Very good composition. You are becoming quite the professional:) Here is my tip: I would want to get more of the ground/background in the frame. By backing up and making the subject smaller, you bring more of the attention to the hands, whereas this really seems to make you want to back up to look at it and take everything in. I do realize though, that this would be tough with a 50mm lens which I am guessing you were using. But, that is just a thought, the photo is very good, and edited very well.

Great tip Andrew, thank you

Sometime I crop my pics purely because the image will be bigger on my blog (I like how Shannon M's photos are so huge on her blog). In fact on this one I did have more background when I first posted it, but Laura looked so small on my blog so I changed it and re-posted it. Perhaps I should strive for the best photo rather than trying to make it look good on my blog !!! art first!

I am so glad you took the time to tell me, more tips please :)

This is really nice. I like how you can see the dirt in her finger nail.

Oh Shona- this is incredible. If I could photograph like you, I would no space left on my walls. they would be covered in my pictures. Did you say you use a Nikon? I cant remember.
